Assignment: Illustrative Portrait. DO THIS!!! Take a portrait of
someone you know (or don't know )in their personal or professional
environment. Think about the time of day(lighting) , The background
(setting) will be essential to telling your story. Make sure your
background is well thought out. No stuff sticking out of your
subjects' head. Remember that as with stillives ,the illustrative
portrait is as much about the surrounding (negative) space as it is
about the subject. Wardrobe, too, is a major element as it will tell
us as much about the person as the expression on their face. Don't
neglect to consult your creative/style checklist to add spice to your
ideas.
